What is an End Suction Pump?

An end suction pump, also known as a end suction centrifugal pump, is a single-stage centrifugal pump where the suction nozzle is located at one end of the pump casing while the discharge nozzle is located at the side perpendicular to the suction nozzle. The impeller is mounted on a shaft inside the casing which is connected to a motor that provides the rotational force.
As liquid enters through the suction nozzle, it flows over the impeller blades which impart velocity to the liquid and direct it out through the discharge nozzle. The volute or diffuser casing collects the liquid and converts the velocity to pressure before the liquid exits the pump.

How Does an End Suction Pump Work?

The working principle of an end suction pump is based on the centrifugal force generated by the rotation of an impeller. When the pump is switched on, the impeller starts to rotate, creating a low-pressure zone at the center. This low-pressure zone causes the fluid to be drawn into the pump through the suction inlet.
