Electric Motor Slurry Pump Transmission Mode

The transmission mode of an electric motor slurry pump refers to how the motor's power is transferred to the pump to drive it.There are several common transmission modes:

Direct Drive (Close-Coupled)

In this mode, the electric motor is directly connected to the slurry pump, with no intermediate mechanism. This design is compact, simple, and efficient, with minimum power loss between the motor and the pump, but the rotation speed is fixed, making it unsuitable for precision work at the desired operating condition point.

Belt Drive

A belt drive system transmits power from the motor to the pump using a belt and pulley combination. This mode offers for greater flexibility in motor and pump positions, as well as the ability to adjust speeds by altering pulley diameters. However, the transmission efficiency is low, the belt is prone to damage, and the operating costs are high. The reliability is poor.

Belt driving modes vary depending on space configuration.

CR drive: The motor is on the right side of the pump when viewed from the inlet of the pump.

CL drive: When viewed via the pump's inlet, the motor is on the left side.

CV drive: Also called back-to-back drive. The motor is positioned above a bracket that connects to the pump shaft. This form of transmission requires less floor area. The pump is located on the same side as the motor's shaft end.

ZV drive: Also called tailstock belt conveyor. As the name says, the motor is coupled to the pump's shelf at the end, and the belt runs between the two.

Each of these transmission modes has its own advantages and is selected based on the specific requirements of the application, such as space constraints, required speed, torque, and operational environment. Learn more How to Select the Right Drive for Your Slurry Pump
